Text and Other Fetishes is one-of-a-kind artist’s book of texts and photographs created as an organic by-product of the project Islands of Nobody, which focuses on the establishment of modern cemeteries in Europe.
While the texts consist of reflections, extracts, and micro-essays focused on death, the photographs represent a visual diary. This series of self-portraits and arranged still lifes follows the intimate line of artistic research within the broader project. A pendant to the book is a pair of notebooks containing the original notes. I perceive these as independent works of art—graphic and drawing records that speak to the evolving process and conceptual development of Islands of Nobody.
Text a iné fetiše je autorská kniha textov a fotografií, ktorá vznikla ako organický vedľajší produkt projektu Ostrovy nikoho, venovaného vzniku moderných európskych cintorínov.
Zatiaľ čo textovú časť tvoria úvahy, postrehy, citáty a mikroeseje tematizované smrťou, fotografie predstavujú vizuálny denník. Táto séria autoportrétov, zátiší a kompozícií sleduje intímnu líniu umeleckého výskumu v rámci celého projektu. Pendantom ku knihe je dvojica zošitov s poznámkami. Vnímam ich ako samostatné umelecké diela – grafické a kresebné záznamy, ktoré dokumentujú samotný proces vývoja a myslenia v projekte Ostrovy nikoho.
